From the moment we arrived, we were met with the warmest welcome. The staff here are something really special; kind, attentive, and full of light. They mirror the energy of the house itself. Sunshine, happiness, summer. This energy radiates through every space, every interaction, every moment spent here.

Days unfold slowly. Mornings are best spent wandering along the Hermanus cliff path, just steps from the hotel. You can walk for hours with the ocean stretching endlessly beside you, the salty air and crashing waves setting the tone for the day. It’s simple, grounding, and deeply restorative.

And then, of course, there’s the food. Truly exceptional. Long, leisurely lunches turn into seafood feasts, best enjoyed overlooking the ocean with a crisp glass of rosé in hand. It’s indulgent in the most effortless way.

Birkenhead House exceeded every expectation I had. It’s the kind of place you arrive at for a weekend and leave feeling like you’ve had a proper reset. A little pocket of seaside heaven, right on our doorstep.
